One more Rising Star too Early
Loss rocked Bollywood as the respected director Ashwni Dhir laments the sudden death of his 18-year-old son Jalaj. A sad Bollywood catastrophe of car accidents shocking the film fraternity and loved ones, Jalaj and a friend were killed in a Vile Parle, Mumbai car accident.
This catastrophe plays out exactly as Jalaj was preparing to leave with his father to attend the much awaited viewing of Hisaab Barabar. In a few minutes dreams, hopes, and a clear future were snatched.
An evening ruined by neglect
Apparently drunk, late at night a motorist drove the car—probably speeding—causing it to swivel out of control. Jalaj and his friend perished in the crash; two other passengers survived with only minor injuries.
Still rather widespread on Indian streets is negligent driving. This event reminds us regretfully of the awful results of carelessness behind the wheel.
The heart of a father firmly blocked
Celebrated for his Bollywood films, Ashwni Dhir was about to write history at IFFI with his film Hisaab Barabar. Instead he is now fighting early death of his son. The family has been rocked by the mix of career success with personal tragedy.
From the movie business to supporters, tributes began to show as word of Jalaj’s death travelled. Colleagues and friends sent their actual sympathies and memories of Jalaj’s vivid personality and dreams he carried.
This terrible event emphasises how urgently tougher laws against drunk driving and overspeeds are needed. While no comfort can help with this loss, it emphasises the need of road safety to stop such long-lasting events.
