Cold Wave Sweeps Pakistan, PMD Weather Report Says

Pakistan experienced predominantly cold and dry weather, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The chilly conditions were particularly intense in the hilly regions, where temperatures dropped significantly. While the plains and other parts of the country faced moderate temperatures, the overall weather remained dry, contributing to the winter chill.

The hilly areas, including regions like Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saw sharp temperature drops, with snowfall in some areas. This cold front has affected daily life, especially in the mountainous zones, where the low temperatures and biting winds make outdoor activities difficult.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country, including major cities such as Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi, experienced moderate to cold conditions, with clear skies adding to the dryness. The lack of rainfall in many regions has led to a continuation of the dry spell, with little to no precipitation expected in the coming days.

According to the PMD, these conditions are expected to persist for a while, with the cold weather likely to continue until the weekend. While this is typical for Pakistan’s winter season, the dry weather raises concerns about water levels and agricultural impacts, especially in the absence of significant rainfall.

As Pakistan braces for continued cold temperatures, residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions against the harsh weather, particularly in the colder, high-altitude regions.
