Sahar Atif’s Sindh-inspired designs shine at TEXPO Pakistan 2024.

During the TEXPO Pakistan 2024 in Karachi, buyers from the global apparel business praised renowned Pakistani fashion designer Sahar Atif for her avant-garde denim line. The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan organized the event, offering a platform for showcasing denim designs that add value and highlight Pakistan’s cultural diversity.

Atif emphasized that her collection, inspired by Sindh’s history, has the potential to attract international customers and boost the country’s foreign exchange earnings. She clarified that the designs honor the region’s rich cultural heritage while also reflecting sustainability in keeping with TEXPO’s 2024 focus. Atif’s denim works honor Ajrak and Ralli, two traditional Sindhi textile art forms renowned for their vivid patterns and extensive history.

Sahar Atif holds an executive MBA from LUMS and is a graduate of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion & Design. Her collection, Salvaged Selvedge, blends cultural appreciation with environmental awareness by fusing contemporary denim designs with the age-old Ajrak block-printing method. Climate change is the main theme of Sahar Atif’s work, which repurposes deconstructed denim leftovers into sustainable patterns that revitalize outdated materials.

Every item in her collection offers a new, international take on Pakistani fashion by fusing centuries-old textile techniques with modern design. Sahar Atif’s dedication to sustainability and cultural preservation was highlighted when she stated, “By integrating traditional techniques with modern design, we’ve created pieces that resonate with both local and international audiences.”|
