Deepak spent three years matching digitally with Punjabi young woman Manpreet Kaur. Once he journeyed hundreds of miles to wed her, only to find he was the subject of a horrible wedding prank, what seemed like a modern-day fairy tale turned into a shocking tale of betrayal.

Deepak’s family spared any work required in planning a large-scale wedding. Along with them to Moga on December 6, where the wedding was set, were a convoy of 150 people, lavish decorations, drinks, and professional photographers. When they arrived, their excitement soon gave way to doubt and despair, there was no bride, no calendar, and no indication of the family they had been working with.

Along with emotionally draining Deepak and his family left broke by the deceit. All the hard preparation, the trip costs, and the hopes for this marriage were in vain.
