Indian batter Virat Kohli has set a new record by becoming the Fastest to 14000 ODI Runs. He surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s previous record and added another milestone to his career.
During India’s Champions Trophy 2025 match against Pakistan, Kohli achieved this feat at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He reached the 14,000-run mark in just 287 innings, which is 63 fewer than Tendulkar’s 350 innings.
Kohli now joins an elite group of batters who have surpassed 14,000 ODI runs. Tendulkar and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara are the only other cricketers to achieve this milestone. Sangakkara reached the landmark in 378 innings back in 2015.
In the ongoing Champions Trophy, Kohli has been in outstanding form, playing a crucial role in India’s batting lineup. His ability to score runs quickly highlights his consistency and dominance in the 50-over format making him the Fastest to 14000 ODI Runs.
With over 15,000 runs in List-A cricket, Kohli ranks 15th on the all-time charts. In ODIs, only Tendulkar (18,426) and Sangakkara (14,234) have scored more runs than him. Kohli has also smashed 54 List-A centuries, second only to Tendulkar’s 60.
Kohli is on the verge of completing 300 ODI matches and will soon join an exclusive club. He will become the seventh Indian to achieve this milestone after Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, and Yuvraj Singh.
