Shamoon Abbasi Opens Up: Poverty, Not Fault, Ended My Marriages
In a candid and emotionally open interview, seasoned Pakistani actor Shamoon Abbasi spoke about the actual cause of the failure of his first two marriages poverty, and not personal failures. On a recent show telecast by ‘New TV,’ the actor spoke about his hardships, marriages, and eventual development, giving fans a peek at a part of his life that they do not get to see on the big screen.
Humble Beginnings: Love in Troubles
Shamoon Abbasi initially married actress Javeria Abbasi in 1997. They gave birth to their daughter, Anzela Abbasi, who pursued the actor’s path as well. Though they shared the same interest in the craft, the marriage soon collapsed in 2007. Later, in 2010, Shamoon got married to another well-known actress, Humaima Malik, but the marriage fell apart in 2013 after three years.
In his interview, Shamoon explained that these marriages were broken not because of personal resentments or betrayals but for a more painful and genuine reason his failure to live up to the financial expectations of his wives at the time.
“I Slept Hungry, Lived on Dhaba Roofs”
Retelling his days of struggle, the actor recalled poignant memories of dwelling over a roadside hotel (dhaba), eating on credit, and even riding on the rooftops of buses. He told that at one stage, his food loan from the dhaba had a maximum limit of just 350 rupees, and even that was later refused.
Notwithstanding the brink of extreme poverty they lived, Shamoon never lost hope. His life from subsisting on food borrowed from others to later owning a big house and four cars is a witness to determination and labor.
No Bitterness, Just Mutual Growth
What is even more commendable about the story of Shamoon Abbasi is how mature and dignified he was towards his former wives. He stressed that there was never any hatred or long-term bitterness among them. Rather, over time, they all accepted their faults and moved on with respect for one another.
“Of course, in the heat of anger, we all may have uttered bitter words,” he conceded, “but those passed away. All that was left were memories of goodness and development.”
Appreciation for Javeria and Humaima Successes
Shamoon also complimented Javeria Abbasi and Humaima Malik, admitting that though perhaps he had a small hand in the direction of their initial careers, both women have gone on to create prosperous lives for themselves through pure work ethic. He actually sounded pleased to see them living well in life, even commenting that they now live better lives than he does.
Third Marriage to Sherry Shah
In April 2023, Shamoon Abbasi started a new life with his third wife, actress Sherry Shah. Although he did not go deep into his present marriage in the interview, his tone conveyed hope, serenity, and a feeling of closure from the past emotional baggage.
Honesty, Humility, and Healing
The Shamoon Abbasi divorce tale is not one of blame but of courage. His straightforward admission of poverty being the prime culprit for his failed marriages is a benchmark in an age too hasty to point fingers. In a society where male egos tend to get in the way of emotional openness, Shamoon openness is refreshing as well as worthy.
In speaking his truth, he reminds us all that underneath fame is usually a struggle and that healing can happen when truth and respect guide the way.
