Chaos and Flames in Karachi – Terrible fire at Gul Plaza on M.A. Jinnah Road
Last Saturday night, there was a terrible fire at Gul Plaza on M.A. Jinnah Road. It turned a busy place into something out of a nightmare. Sadly, two people died, and eight got hurt.
This Gul Plaza fire shows how unsafe some busy areas are and how Karachi needs to get better at dealing with emergencies.
Tough Rescue in Bad Conditions
The Edhi Foundation did a lot to help. They said they saved ten people from the fire and took them to the hospital. Sadly, two of them died because the fire was so bad.
The other eight are getting help and seem okay. Rescuers said there was a lot of smoke, it was hard to see, and everyone inside was scared.
Fire Spreads Fast
The fire chief, Humayoon Khan, said the fire got big fast and took over the whole building. Firefighters had to deal with crazy heat and flames, which was tough.
They used twelve fire trucks and two special ladders to try and stop it. But the fire was hard to beat, which shows some problems with Karachi’s emergency services.

Not Enough Water Slows Things Down
One big problem was that they didn’t have enough water. The fire chief said this really messed things up and let the fire get bigger.
This happens a lot when there are fires in Karachi, especially in crowded areas where there aren’t enough working water sources
Traffic Jams Delay Help
On top of that, some fire trucks got stuck in traffic. The fire chief said if they’d gotten there faster, they maybe could have stopped the fire from spreading and saved lives.
This brings up the issue of how to deal with traffic during emergencies and why there aren’t special lanes for emergency vehicles in busy parts of the city.
Time to Get Serious About Fire Safety
The Gul Plaza fire is a scary reminder of what can happen when safety rules are old, water systems are bad, and cities aren’t planned well. Experts say we need to check fire safety stuff often, make sure exits work, and really enforce safety rules.
If things don’t change, this could happen again in Karachi.
The fire at Gul Plaza was a tragedy, and it’s important to remember it. It should make people do something about the problems with emergency services and safety.
