ISLAMABAD (APP) – On Tuesday, Pakistan’s squash team maintained their exceptional performance at the WSF World Team Squash Championship by defeating Italy 3-0 in their final pool match to secure an undefeated record in Pool H in Hong Kong, China.
Pakistan earned a well-deserved position in the semifinals by securing the top spot in their group with 6 points, as evidenced by the comprehensive victory, as reported by the Pakistan Squash Federation’s website.
Pakistan’s players demonstrated their complete dominance during the match against Italy.
In a mere 33 minutes, Muhammad Asim Khan emerged victorious over Omar Zaki Masoud in three consecutive sets, 11-8, 11-4, 11-7.
Subsequently, Nasir Iqbal secured a resounding victory over Daniele De Bartolomeo, conceding only four points in three sets (11-2, 11-1, 11-1). The match was concluded in a mere 19 minutes.
Noor Zaman completed the perfect victory by defeating Lorenzo Staurengo in a straight-set match in just 24 minutes, resulting in scores of 11-4, 11-7, and 11-5.
Previously, Pakistan achieved consecutive victories against Peru and Hong Kong, China on Monday.
Pakistan secured a 2-1 advantage over Peru in the encounter.
Asim Khan was defeated by Diego Elias, a world-class player, in three consecutive matches, with scores of 4-11, 2-11, and 3-11 (21m).
Rafael Galvez was defeated in a five-game drama by Noor Zaman, who fought valiantly, winning 11-1, 11-4, 13-15, 11-13, and 13-11 (58m).
Nasir Iqbal demonstrated his expertise by defeating Alonso Escudero in a clinical manner, winning 11-3, 11-4, 11-2 (23m).
The team also achieved a 2-1 victory in the match against Hong Kong, China.
In a tense five-setter, Asim Khan was defeated by Alex Lau, with the score of 5-11, 11-7, 9-11, 13-11, and 4-11 (64m).
In an additional five-game match, Noor Zaman emerged victorious over Henry Leung, winning 7-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-4, 11-6 (44m).
Nasir Iqbal emerged victorious with an impressive performance, defeating Chi Him Wong 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 (31m).
