iOS 18.2 Brings Exciting Apple Intelligence Features to iPhones
Apple is rolling out iOS 18.2 today, introducing a variety of advanced Apple Intelligence features that will enhance the iPhone experience. While Apple Intelligence first debuted with iOS 18.1 earlier this year, the new update takes it to the next level, offering much more than what was previously available.
Although iOS 18.2 doesn’t deliver everything that Apple initially promised, including the highly anticipated Siri’s Personal Context (which is expected next year), it does bring a host of exciting new features. With this update, Apple Intelligence becomes more powerful and refined, adding AI-driven capabilities such as AI image generation, ChatGPT, and Visual Intelligence for iPhone 16 users.
Device Compatibility: Which iPhones Support Apple Intelligence?
While iOS 18.2 will be available on all iPhones from the iPhone Xs and later, not every device will have access to the Apple Intelligence features. The AI enhancements are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the entire iPhone 16 lineup. Users with older models, including the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, won’t be able to use these features, as they lack the required 8GB of RAM.
Additionally, iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max owners will miss out on some of the new functionalities. For example, Visual Intelligence, which is one of the standout features, will be exclusive to the iPhone 16 series. It’s not entirely clear whether this limitation is due to hardware constraints or if Apple simply wants to reserve this feature for the newer models, which have a Camera Control button.
New Languages for Apple Intelligence
iOS 18.2 also expands the language options for Apple Intelligence, adding support for several new regions. In addition to U.S. English, the update now includes non-U.S. English variants such as those for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K.
With iOS 18.2, Apple continues to enhance its AI capabilities, making the iPhone smarter and more intuitive than ever before.
