Israeli troops forcibly evacuated the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, one of the few remaining operational medical facilities in the area. Many patients, some walking, were transferred to other hospitals miles away in Gaza City, the Gaza Health Ministry reported. This area has been under heavy Israeli military pressure for nearly three months as part of operations targeting Hamas fighters in surrounding northern Gaza communities like Beit Lahiya, Beit Hanoun, and Jabalia.
Accusations and Resistance
The Israeli military operation in the northern Gaza region is aimed at Hamas, but Palestinians accuse Israel of attempting to depopulate the area to create a buffer zone. On Monday, the Israeli army ordered hospital officials to evacuate the Indonesian Hospital, and by Tuesday morning, forces stormed the building, forcing staff and patients to leave. Al-Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals have also faced frequent assaults, with Israeli forces continuing operations near Kamal Adwan Hospital.
Despite these pressures, hospital officials have resisted evacuation orders, refusing to leave patients unattended. The Israeli army has facilitated the transfer of medical supplies and patients to other facilities during the ongoing military offensive, collaborating with international agencies like the World Health Organization.
Death Toll and Continued Strikes
In the last 24 hours, 21 Palestinians were killed, bringing the total death toll since the conflict began to 45,338, with over 107,000 people wounded. Israeli airstrikes continued across Gaza, killing at least nine Palestinians, including a member of the civil emergency service.
Violence in the West Bank
Meanwhile, Israeli forces conducted a raid in the Tulkarem refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, killing two Palestinians, including a woman. This raid is part of a broader increase in violence in the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza war. Since October 7, at least 805 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers.
