    This crescent Rajab 1446 Moon has Sighted marks the spiritual beginning for Muslims

    As has been formally inaugurated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to sight the moon of Rajab for the year 1446 AH in Pakistan, the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee has decided and the first night of Rajab will fall on Thursday, January 2, 2024. This declaration brings a moment of respect and celebration for Muslims around the country. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met prior this night to check the crescent moon. Observations were made in more than one locations of Pakistan which report clear views of the crescent moon that heralds the onset of the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar.

    Rajab Importance in Islamic Traditions

    Rajab is of great importance because it is one of the 4 sacred months in the Islamic calendar, which is free from struggle and a time for peace and worship. It is a month that heralds the method of Ramadan and affords Muslims a threat to deepen their religious practices. Many use this time for acts of kindness, extra prayers, fasting, and self-improvement.

    Pakistan Prepares for a Month of Devotion

    With the declaration, mosques and spiritual institutions across Pakistan will begin making arrangements for unique prayers and congregations. Scholars and community leaders often remind people of the importance of the use of Rajab as a period to reflect on one’s faith and bond relationships with each God and fellow believers.

    The Rajab 1446 Moon has Sighted also unifies the Muslim community within Pakistan and around the globe. When Pakistan begins the month of Rajab, millions around the world join in celebration, celebrating the shared religious heritage that binds the world Muslim ummah together. Maulana Azad said that the sky is cloudy in most parts of Pakistan, while clear in some places. He said that the crescent moon of Rajab has been sighted.

    Therefore, the first of Rajab 1446 AH will fall on January 2.
