On Tuesday, OnePlus unveiled two new smartphones in the US: the flagship OnePlus 13 and the more affordable OnePlus 13R. The OnePlus 13 is available starting January 7, while the OnePlus 13R will hit the shelves on January 14.
OnePlus 13: Premium Features at a Competitive Price
The OnePlus 13, priced from $899.99 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, offers powerful performance, an advanced camera system, and a sleek design. Available in the “Black Eclipse” color, the phone features a 6.8-inch ProXDR display with a variable 1-120Hz refresh rate and up to 1440p resolution. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the phone delivers exceptional performance, with benchmark results surpassing many Android competitors.
The phone’s triple-lens camera system includes three 50MP sensors (main, ultrawide, and 3x zoom) and Hasselblad camera tuning. Early reviews highlight the OnePlus 13’s ability to capture vibrant, lifelike images, especially during golden hour, with only minor concerns about shadow details.
Battery life is strong, with its 6,000mAh battery offering excellent longevity, especially with the efficient 1080p resolution display. The OnePlus 13 also supports super-fast 80W charging, outpacing rivals like the iPhone 16 and Samsung Galaxy S24. Additionally, it includes a charger in the box, which is uncommon among US smartphones. Features like Glove Mode and Aqua Touch 2.0 make the OnePlus 13 more versatile, while its IP69 rating ensures resistance to water and dust.
OnePlus 13R: Affordable Performance with Some Trade-offs
Starting at $599.99, the phone delivers great value. It shares much of the OnePlus 13’s hardware, including the 6.8-inch display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. However, the camera system is downgraded, lacking the Hasselblad tuning found in the other phone. The OnePlus 13R also omits wireless charging but remains an excellent choice for those seeking high-end specs at a lower price.
