Basant fest reveals 346 risky buildings in The Walled City – Roofs are off-limits
Basant’s almost here, but safety’s a big worry in Lahore’s historic Old City. The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) checked out all the buildings after someone asked the court if Basant should even be allowed, since things can get dicey.
Now, they’ve told everyone what they found, and it’s got people worried.
Old City has some Seriously Dodgy spots
The report says 346 buildings in Lahore’s Old City aren’t safe. Some are in really bad shape and could fall apart!
The Sutrasi Building is too far gone to fix. But about 60 buildings could be saved if they’re fixed up real soon.
This is the biggest safety check the Old City’s had in ages.

People Moving Out, Buildings Coming Down
Because of the report, people have had to leave the really dangerous buildings. This is to stop anyone from getting hurt if a roof falls in. Rooftop parties are a big Basant thing, which make the roofs risky.
There are still two super unsafe buildings where people live, but it’s hard to get them out. Some of the empty buildings will be knocked down. A dozen have been made safer for now.
The WCLA is saying stay off the roofs if you’re in a dodgy building. No kite flying or parties allowed on those ones!
They’re putting up signs to warn people.
More Cops, More Help
There’s going to be more police around during Basant, too. They’ll keep an eye on the crowds, make sure everyone follows the rules, and be ready if something goes wrong.
It’s all about making sure people don’t get hurt while trying to have fun.
Keeping it Fun, But Keeping it Safe
Basant’s a big deal in Lahore, especially in the Old City. But this report shows we need to be careful.
By putting safety first, the city hopes people can still enjoy Basant without anything bad happening.
