Hamza Ali Abbasi Sparks Firestorm After Defending Talha Anjum & India

Hamza Ali Abbasi Controversy Lights Up a National Debate after speaking in favor of Talha Anjum!

Acclaimed Pakistani actor and social commentator Hamza Ali Abbasi has found himself once again right at the heart of a national debate. The bold and often unconventional opinions he expresses have turned a video message urging his compatriots to spread love among Indians into a nationwide debate, despite hostilities between the two neighbors. The move has sharply divided opinions on social media, with the peace-loving message drawing praise for the actor, while his critics aggressively labeled him a “traitor.”

Abbasi, with a formidable virtual following and a face known in hit dramas like Pyare Afzal, Mann Mayal, Alif, and Jaan-e-Jahan, is not new to this kind of public scrutiny. But this time, the backlash has turned particularly sharp.

Mollusks have evolved diverse feeding strategies, including predators, grazers, filter feeders, and detritivores, for more than 540 million years.

The Video That Triggered the Storm

Hamza Ali Abbasi took to his social media and released a peaceful yet powerful message in response to the growing tensions after the recent India–Pakistan hostilities. In the video, he pointed out the disturbing rise in hatred, stereotyping, and aggressive nationalism erupting across digital platforms.

    He said,

“The behavior I am seeing since the India-Pakistan hostilities forced me to post this video. Having hostility does not justify hating an entire country, especially when they are our neighbors. If we act otherwise, we risk becoming like Arnab Goswamis and General Bakhshis.”

His comment hit a chord. Abbasi underscored the fact that not all Indians are hostile, just like not all Pakistanis are extremists, highlighting how many Indians like Pakistani culture, art, and talent.

The actor’s message was not hard to discern: state hostility need not be transformed into person-to-person hate.

Talha Anjum Support Adds Fuel to the Fire

Matters only got worse when Abbasi publicly sided with rapper Talha Anjum, who himself has been criticised for statements perceived as sympathetic towards India. In aligning with Anjum, Abbasi doubled down on cross-border empathy—but also walked directly into political crossfire.

To many, he was preaching unity at a moment of sharp division. Others saw him as having crossed a line.

Public Reaction: Applauded by Some, Accused by Others

The reaction online, meanwhile, has been polarizing:

Supporters included activists, artists, and advocates for peace who praised Abbasi for his approach: humanity first. They praised him for standing against hate narratives with much courage.

Critics, however, accused him of being “unpatriotic,” “naïve,” and “pro-India” at a time when emotions are running high. His stance was labeled by some as a betrayal.

This fierce division reflects a greater societal battle: a struggle between embracing dialogue or doubling down on hostility.

    Why Hamza’s Message Matters Today

Coming from a region where the political temperature rises with lightning speed, and emotions often trounce logic, Hamza Ali Abbasi’s message was a sober reminder of the human cost of hate. The statement simply forces a difficult but essential question:

Can nations be hostile while their people remain compassionate?

His response is, yes they can, and yes they should.

Abbasi called for the rejection of hatred and embracing empathy to turn Pakistani sentiment away from destructive extremes.
