Imran Khan got checked at PIMS and Doctors found central retinal vein occlusion
Word spread fast when former Prime Minister Imran Khan had an eye exam. Now, doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad are setting the record straight. This news comes after many reports about his health worried his supporters and others.
Dr. Rana Imran Sikandar, the head of PIMS, explained everything in a video. He wanted to clear up any confusion.
Dr. Sikandar said Imran Khan wasn’t seeing well out of his right eye. A doctor at Adiala Jail checked him out first. Then, experts said he needed to go to PIMS right away for a check-up to make sure it wasn’t anything too serious.
So, they took the former PM to the hospital. There, eye doctors gave him a good once-over and then said he could go back.
What Tests Did They Do?
At PIMS, the doctors did a few tests to see what was up with Imran Khan’s eye. They used:
- A slit-lamp to look at the front of his eye.
- A fundoscopy to check his retina and blood stuff.
- A test to measure eye pressure.
- An OCT scan to get a close look at his retina.
These tests told the doctors what was really going on.
What’s Wrong? Central Retinal Vein Occlusion
The doctors figured out that Imran Khan has central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). That’s when blood can’t flow right in the veins in the retina. It can mess with your sight for a bit and could cause problems later if you don’t get it fixed.
Dr. Sikandar said the blood pressure in Imran Khan’s right eye made his sight worse. But he also said they caught it early and are taking care of it.
Treatment and Go-Ahead
After they knew what was wrong, Imran Khan had a procedure to lower the pressure and get the blood flowing right again. The doctors told him to get treatment fast, and they did it while he was at PIMS.
Once they did what they needed to do and made sure he was okay, they said he could go home. They also said his health wasn’t in danger and that they were taking good care of him.

Since Imran Khan is a big name in politics, news about his health gets a lot of attention. The hospital told everyone what was going on to be open and show they’re doing their job right.
Dr. Sikandar said they followed all the rules and made sure Imran Khan got the best care, no matter who he is.
