James Gunn’s Superman Teaser Reveals Fresh Take on the Iconic Hero
Two years of waiting have finally paid off as the first trailer for DC Studios’ Superman shows a glimpse of James Gunn’s fresh interpretation of the venerable character. Inspired by DC Comics’ All-Star Superman, the teaser presents David Cornswet as the Man of Steel, highlighting his action-packed exploits as Superman and a first view of his performance as Daily Planet journalist, Clark Kent.
The preview also shows Superman’s devoted canine friend, Krypto, marking his first live-action appearance. In a touching scene, fans watch Krypto sprinting to Superman’s side, prepared to assist.
While Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen appears with Lois in the Daily Planet, Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, further establishing the romantic link between her and Clark Kent. Also disclosed is Nicholas Hoult’s comic-accurate portrayal of Lex Luthor and his firm, Luthorcorp, with Gunn hinting that the movie opens with Superman already known, Lois and Clark’s relationship intact, and Lex’s contempt of Superman clear from the start.
The trailer also hints at some fierce action, including a Metropolis conflict between Superman and a Kaiju. Additionally, the teaser teases the bigger DC Universe with appearances from Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl.
Set for release on July 11, 2025, this Superman movie will center on Superman’s path to reconcile his human upbringing in Smallville with his Kryptonian background. As he tries to preserve principles many regard as antiquated, the plot will revolve around the character’s personification of truth, justice, and kindness in modern society. Fans have eagerly anticipated Gunn’s fresh interpretation of the venerable hero.
