Pat Casey Praises Jim Carrey’s Dual Role in Sonic 3
Pat Casey, co-writer of Sonic 3, recently shared his admiration for Jim Carrey’s performances in the highly anticipated film. On December 18, Casey expressed his thoughts on his X account (formerly Twitter), saying, “Jim Carrey deserves an Oscar nomination for the film. That’s right, I said it.” His bold statement comes after Carrey took on two roles in the film, prompting a fan to joke about which character deserved the nomination. Casey humorously responded, “Good point. He should be nominated twice.”
Carrey Reflects on Playing Robotnik in Sonic 3
In a conversation with Games Radar, Jim Carrey revealed why he decided to return to play Robotnik in Sonic 3 after avoiding sequels and franchises for years. The 62-year-old actor explained, “Maybe six months before the first movie, I thought to myself, I’d like to have a character I could sit with for a bit over a few films. Especially if it could evolve from film to film.” Carrey elaborated on Robotnik’s transformation, noting, “Every time he gets defeated, he becomes more bitter and hostile, and his technological creations continue to top themselves.”
Sonic 3 will hit theaters in the US on December 20 and in the UK on December 21.
