Pakistan Should Play Against Zimbabwe and Ireland, Says Kamran Akmal

Kamran Akmal Slams Pakistan’s Performance in Champions Trophy Opener

Former Test cricketer Kamran Akmal has strongly criticized the team’s performance. Pakistan lost the opening match of the Champions Trophy to New Zealand.

Pakistan Lost Control After 280 Runs

Speaking on a private TV program, 43-year-old Kamran Akmal shared his disappointment. He stated that Pakistan lost the match when New Zealand reached 280 runs. The opposition managed their wickets well and then accelerated their scoring.

“New Zealand’s key player got injured, yet another stepped up and scored a century. Their batting lineup played with responsibility,” he added. Akmal urged Pakistan’s players to learn from New Zealand’s approach.

Kamran Akmal Said Pakistan’s Cricket Standards Are Declining

Akmal further commented on Pakistan’s declining cricket standards. “If we win even one match, it would mean we’ve qualified for the top four. Our cricket level has dropped so much that we now play series against Zimbabwe and Ireland. Results will disappoint if we finalize the squad just 15 days before a tournament.”

    Favoritism Destroying National Team

He criticized favoritism in team selection, saying it has been an issue for six to seven years. “We warned that biased decisions would destroy the national team. The cricket board has hijacked the selection process and turned it into a personal team,” he remarked.

Poor Management to Blame for Current Struggles

The former wicketkeeper-batsman blamed past administrators for Pakistan’s current struggles. “What’s happening to our cricket today is due to poor decisions made in the past,” he concluded.
