PCB Proposes Neutral Venue Formula for Champions Trophy 2025

Champions Trophy 2025: PCB suggests a partnership or fusion formula

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put forward a new “partnership or fusion formula”  neutral venue aimed at resolving the ongoing deadlock concerning the Champions Trophy 2025, according to sources reported by ARY News.

Sources indicate that the PCB has submitted its proposal to the International Cricket Council (ICC), stipulating that Pakistan and India will compete at a neutral venue for the next three years.

The Partnership or Fusion Formula stipulates that India and Pakistan will not play their matches in each other’s territory during the ICC tournaments scheduled for the next three years.

According to sources, the ICC will make a decision on the issue following discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The ICC’s decision on Friday to adjourn the board meeting without reaching a conclusion regarding the Champions Trophy 2025. It was scheduled to take place in Pakistan in the February-March window of next year, led to the development.

The BCCI convened the meeting after deciding not to send its team to Pakistan for the tournament.

The BCCI has suggested a hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Suggesting that India’s matches take place in Dubai rather than in Pakistan.

The PCB firmly declined the proposal and maintains that the entire tournament will take place on its home ground.

Reports indicated that the PCB communicated with the International Cricket Council a day prior to the planned board meeting.

The Pakistan Cricket Board stated in the letter that the hybrid model. Which would include hosting some matches at a neutral venue, is not acceptable for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Recently, PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi proposed a new formula based on parity for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

During a media briefing at Dubai Stadium, Naqvi highlighted the importance of ensuring equality and fairness in any new formula related to the ICC event.

“There are many developments happening, and I prefer not to elaborate too much as it could complicate matters. We have shared our perspective with the ICC, and India has also expressed its views. All the boards are working toward a mutually beneficial outcome. Mohsin Naqvi stated, “Pakistan is also committed to the success of cricket, but we must approach it with respect.”
