    Rachin Ravindra Makes History in One-Day Cricket

    New Zealand’s young batter Rachin Ravindra has created history in One-Day International (ODI) cricket. He played an outstanding innings in the ICC Champions Trophy and set a new record.

    Rachin Ravindra scored a brilliant century against Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday. This performance was even more special because it was his Champions Trophy debut.

    Missed First Match Due to Injury

    Rachin was supposed to play in New Zealand’s first match against Pakistan, but he missed it due to an injury. He got hurt while fielding during a tri-series match in Lahore and had to sit out.

    A Surprise Entry in the Playing XI

    On Monday, he got a chance to play because Daryl Mitchell was unwell. He replaced him in the playing XI and made the most of the opportunity.

    A Century on Champions Trophy Debut

    The 25-year-old came to bat at number four while chasing Bangladesh’s target of 237 runs. He played a fantastic innings, scoring 112 runs. His batting was a delight to watch.

    Captain Tom Latham also contributed with 55 runs off 76 balls. Thanks to their efforts, New Zealand won the match comfortably and secured a place in the semi-finals.

    A Record-Breaking Achievement

    After this century, Rachin Ravindra achieved a unique milestone. He became the first cricketer in history to score a century on debut in both the World Cup and Champions Trophy.

    In 2023, during the ICC World Cup in India, he also scored a century against England in his very first match.

    A Unique Place in Cricket History

    So far, 19 players have scored a century in their first-ever World Cup match. Similarly, 15 players have done it in the Champions Trophy.

    But Rachin Ravindra is the only cricketer to do it in both tournaments. This makes his achievement even more special.

    A Star in ICC Tournaments

    His century against Bangladesh was his fourth in ODI cricket, and all of them have come in ICC tournaments.

    He scored three centuries during the 2023 World Cup, proving himself as a big-match player. He holds the record for most centuries by a New Zealand player in ICC events.

    Previously, Kane Williamson and Nathan Astle held this record with three centuries each, but Rachin Ravindra has now surpassed them.

    With his talent and consistency, he is quickly becoming one of the most exciting players to watch in world cricket.
