Sindh Govt Suspends Registration of Private Schools To Make Illegal Increases In Fees

Sindh School Education Department Cancelled registration of Private Schools that are accused of charging high fees!

As a radical step to ensure that they do not exploit the parents and students, the Sindh School Education Department has closed down the registration of a number of private schools that are accused of charging high fees and involving in administrative misconducts. The move is an indication of the increased determination of the government to bring about transparency and accountability in the private education sector.

The suspension comes after complaints were heaped on it by parents and guardians who claimed it was harassing them, hiking fees at will, and ignoring the Sindh Private Educational Institutions Act, 2013. To a large number of families who were already facing increasing costs of living, the practices had become an intolerable burden.

The support of laws and the compliance of courts

As stated in a press release by the official on December 24, 2025, it was performed by the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions, Sindh. This was done pursuant to Application No. 1592/2025 and in strict adherence to directions given by Sindh High Court.

After comprehensive research, the government made a decision that a number of schools had violated legal boundaries by setting excessive fee increases, applying coercive tactics in order to collect monies, and not living up to the administrative standards mandated under provincial legislation.

The Leuprecht and Cox 1989 case exposed serious wrongdoings within the organization, including price fixing and inducements given to self-insurers to switch to the company’s services. The Leuprecht and Cox 1989 case revealed that there were some serious wrongs in the organization such as price fixing and encouragement to self-insurers to change to their services.

The investigation brought out a trend of misbehaviors exceeding financial anomalies. It was found that schools were coercing parents, disregarding the the fee approval systems, and running without thinking of the welfare of the students. According to Sindh Private Educational Institutions Act, 2013, such actions are direct violations and should be severely regulated.

The department reiterated that it has the mandate to control tuition charges, admissions, adverts, publicity materials and general administration of the private institutions- which it is currently utilizing.

The following is a list of schools that are under threat of being suspended

Due to the violations that have been confirmed, the registration of the following institutions is suspended:

    • Hassan School
    • Iqbal Science Public School
    • Gulshan-e-Iqbal Model School
    • Sultanabad Public School
    • Usman Grammar School
    • Behan Bhai Public School
    • Mega School
    • Haroon Grammar School
    • Foundation School
    • Afridi Ideal School

Such schools cannot carry on with the normal academic activities, they cannot accept new students or collect fees within the period of time of the suspension.

Non-Compliance: The repercussions of non-compliance in these cases are severe, and the authority is required to enforce the rules and subordinate regulations to the letter. The consequences of non-compliance in such situations are not tolerated and the authority has to apply the rules and other subsidiary rules to the latter.

The education department made a stiff threat to suspend any move taken by the suspended schools to challenge these orders as this would subject the schools to further prosecution including the possibility of closing down the school permanently. This no-tolerance policy highlights the gravity with which the governments are dealing with illegal fee increase in the private schools.

Encouraging parents to come forward is suggested

As a key move in its quest to engage the community, the directorate encouraged parents to report instances of unlawful collection of fees or harassment. In case of any complaints, they may be made directly to the education department or other regulatory bodies so that violations are not overlooked.

This will give power to the parents and strengthen the notion that good education should not be gained at the expense of exploitation and intimidation.

The Turning Point of the Private Education in the Sindh

This crackdown is a significant change in the policies of regulating the private education in Sindh. The government has made it very clear through the enforcement of the laws that are in place and the fact that violators are kept at bay, that education is a social trust and not a business venture that goes beyond the law.

With the government further imposing control this can only mean better transparency, fair and student-centred education within the province as anticipated by both parents and students.
