TikTok Turmeric Trend Wasted 10 Crore Rupees in Pakistan

TikTok Turmeric Trend Ignites a Golden Obsession in Pakistan

In a strange but endearing turn of affairs, a viral TikTok trend has taken over through Pakistan with such prevalence that it resulted in the utilization of turmeric worth more than 10 crore rupees all to the name of creating a “natural sunset.” The social media challenge, known as the turmeric sunset trend, caused concern mixing turmeric with water and then lighting up the mixture using a flashlight to replicate the stunning colorations of a setting sun.

From metropolitan cities to countryside towns, stacks of Pakistanis hopped on the trend, filling TikTok with videos featuring their radiant golden water bowls, captioned with hashtags such as “bringing nature indoors” and “sunset in a cup.”

The Ascendancy of the “Nature Sunset” Trend

It all began with a TikTok influencer bragging that they had figured out a “natural method for capturing the magic of sunset.” The video proved an easy blend: one teaspoon of turmeric, one cup of water, and a smartphone flashlight beam yielding an orange-golden light that seemed ominously similar to the dark sky.

What began as an inquisitive glance briefly snowballing into a country-wide craze. In a week, the #TurmericSunset hashtag gained tens of millions of hits. Influencers, students, families, and even local shopkeepers joined in on the trend, each trying to perfect their take on the herbal wonder.

10 Crore Rupees Floated Away in Yellow

As indicated by market surveys and social media listening tools, the sudden onslaught of turmeric demand led to costs to temporarily spike in several leading cities. Shopkeepers in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad experimented with charging that they have been restocking turmeric at three times the usual price to quench the viral demand.

An investigative estimate suggested that turmeric actually worth at least Rs. 10 crore was consumed just for the purpose of this trend. That’s no longer turmeric added to curries or face packs—it was once poured into glasses, bathtubs, fountains, and even plastic kiddie pools, all for that camera-perfect golden glow.

The Human Side of a Viral Obsession

While the style pleased loads of humans, others were shocked. Environmentalists criticized the unnecessary consumption of a herbal product, specially in these days when inflation is a daily battle for the ordinary household. Medical professionals further cautioned consumers to exercise warning since turmeric in high concentrations could potentially cause skin hypersensitive reactions in case of contact with careless treatment.

But despite the controversies, numerous people defended the fashion as a carefree respite from day-to-day worries. “In a world full of appalling news, this was once our means of pursuing light literally,” said Ayesha Khan, a Rawalpindi college student.

    When Trends Trump Reason

Pakistan’s experience with social media innovation is no stranger to the extremes. From the ice bucket challenge to dangerous car stunts, going viral often trumps common sense. The turmeric sunset, although innocuous in conception, prompted valid questions regarding the voltage of digital influence and the herd mentality that it often invites.

Marketing experts also quoted the way producers ignored an opportunity to make the most of this frenzy. “If one turmeric producer had realized early on, overnight they could have doubled their market share,” said Karachi-based digital advertising and marketing expert Saad Iqbal.

As the waters of turmeric settle, Pakistan is left with a wacky memory and maybe, a valuable lesson. While social media advancements can be moments of enjoyment and innovation, they also highlight the importance of mindfulness, sustainability, and questioning needed in the digital world.

The turmeric sundown can also have illuminated our screens for a week, yet its impact remains as a bright reminder of how fast a state can pursue a glow, both literally and metaphorically.
