Similar action taken for numerous illegal properties sealed in Lahore.
LDA sealed properties
On Thursday, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 96 properties and demolished multiple illegal structures in different areas of the provincial capital. The LDA Director General, Tahir Farooq, directed these actions as part of ongoing efforts to address illegal constructions and uphold building regulations.
The operations focused on several local areas, such as Gulberg, New Garden Town, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Shadman, and Gulshan Ravi. A total of 33 properties were sealed in Gulberg, New Garden Town, and Faisal Town. Along with another 33 in Allama Iqbal Town, and 30 in Shadman and Gulshan Ravi. The sealed properties comprised private schools, offices, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, salons, and shops.
Alongside sealing properties, the LDA teams took down multiple illegal constructions in Wapda Town, Defence Road, and College Road Township. Property owners received several notices in advance, giving them chances to resolve violations before any enforcement actions were implemented.
New housing societies in Punjab are no longer required to obtain NOCs.
The operation was carried out under the oversight of Chief Town Planner Asad-ul-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali. DG LDA Tahir Farooq emphasised the authority’s dedication to maintaining legal standards in construction and development practices. “We will persist in enforcing strict measures against illegal commercial buildings, tax defaulters, and unauthorised constructions,” he stated.
