The ICC convenes today to determine the future of the Champions Trophy 2025.
The International Cricket Council board is convening today (Friday) to discuss the future of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to take place in Pakistan.
India has declined to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and proposed a hybrid model, which the PCB has firmly rejected.
The PCB Chief, Mohsin Naqvi, will articulate Pakistan’s position at the meeting.
The ICC Board consists of representatives from 12 full member countries, three representatives from associate members, and includes an independent director, along with the ICC chairman and CEO.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) previously informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) that it would not be sending its team to the event.
Subsequently, reports indicated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), following instructions from the government, communicated with the ICC to express its disapproval of a hybrid model for the tournament.
The PCB has requested a written response from the BCCI regarding their decision not to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Broadcasters are worried about their viewership due to the uncertainty surrounding the event, prompting them to urge the ICC to promptly release the schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025.
The cricket governing body had originally intended to announce the schedule on November 12; however, the BCCI’s decision not to send its team to Pakistan caused a delay in this announcement.
It is important to mention that the broadcasting rights, granted to broadcasters until 2027 for a record $3 billion, depend significantly on the popularity of key matches, especially those between Pakistan and India, which consistently attract the highest viewership.
