Khawaja Asif Accuses Faiz Hameed of Aiding Imran Khan

Allegations of Khawaja Asif: The Part Faiz Hameed Played in Imran Khan’s Ascendancy to Power

Recently, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accused former spymaster General (r) Faiz Hameed of playing a significant role in helping former prime minister Imran Khan and his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), rise to power. Speaking to reporters at the Parliament House, Asif claimed that Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed had a long-standing partnership that played a key role in the political rise of PTI’s founder. He described their relationship as a “crime” that lasted five to six years, particularly during the 2018 general elections when Khan first came to power.

Alleged Relationship Between Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed

Khawaja Asif’s allegations center on the relationship between Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed, which he believes helped Khan ascend to prominence. According to the Defence Minister, the two men worked together on several crucial events, including the May 9 riots. Asif asserted that the government has concrete evidence linking Imran Khan to Faiz Hameed, claiming that the establishment provided the necessary backing to PTI, helping Khan rise to power.

Asif also accused Faiz Hameed of using his influence to imprison political rivals of Imran Khan, implicating them and their families in false charges. Furthermore, he alleged that Hameed facilitated corrupt activities involving him and his wife, Bushra Bibi, furthering their personal interests.

    Prospective Effects for Imran Khan

Khawaja Asif suggested that Imran Khan could face serious repercussions as investigations into these accusations continue. The Defence Minister pointed out that several individuals had been court-martialed during Khan’s time as prime minister, noting that the courts would ultimately decide whether Khan would be tried in a military court. He also mentioned that while he was unsure if Khan still had support from insiders within the establishment, the ongoing investigations could uncover more damaging information.

Additionally, Asif addressed the ongoing debate about PTI’s claims regarding the deaths of party workers during the May 9 protests at D-Chowk, Islamabad. He revealed that PTI lawmakers failed to provide any evidence to support their claims in the National Assembly, further adding to the political tension surrounding Imran Khan and his party.

As the political environment becomes more unstable, all eyes remain on the investigations and whether further evidence against PTI’s leader and his associates will come to light.
