Baby John Movie Struggles to Impress at the Box Office

The much-anticipated ‘Baby John movie’, starring Varun Dhawan, has had a disappointing start at the box office, earning only INR 2 crore from morning shows across India on its Christmas Day debut. Despite being touted as Dhawan’s ambitious attempt to establish himself as an action superstar, the film has failed to garner positive reviews or significant audience interest, as reported by local media.

Low Occupancy and Poor Opening Day Performance

With an occupancy rate of just under 14%, ‘Baby John movie’ struggles to attract moviegoers. The film’s pre-release ticket sales amounted to INR 5 crore, which is not a strong figure for a pan-India entertainer. Even with expected improvements during afternoon and evening shows, the film may only manage to collect INR 15 crore on its opening day, a modest figure compared to other recent blockbusters.

    Competition from ‘Pushpa 2’

Adding to its woes, ‘Baby John movie’ faces stiff competition from Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’, which is in its third week of release. With over INR 1000 crore in earnings, ‘Pushpa 2’ continues to dominate, outperforming ‘Baby John’ in morning shows and retaining strong audience interest. On the 21st day of release, ‘Pushpa 2’ is projected to earn more than INR 14 crore, highlighting the stark contrast in performance.

Director Kalees and Varun Dhawan’s Recent Box Office Struggles

Directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, ‘Baby John movie’ is a remake of Atlee’s Tamil hit ‘Theri’, which starred Vijay. Despite Atlee’s growing brand after the success of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’, the film’s reception has been underwhelming. This follows a pattern of underperformance for Dhawan, whose recent films like ‘Bhediya’ and ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’ also failed to meet expectations.

While ‘Baby John movie’ aimed to solidify Varun Dhawan’s place as an action hero, its poor box office performance signals a challenging road ahead.
