The 31-year-old batter has been with RCB for three seasons. He has scored 799 runs in 28 matches, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 158.85.
Bobat clarified that Kohli was considered for the role. However, the franchise preferred an Indian captain for the upcoming season.
“Virat does not need a title to lead,” Bobat stated. He highlighted Kohli’s natural influence both on and off the field.
Patidar recently led Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket. He expressed gratitude for this opportunity and reflected on his leadership journey.
“I told Mo last year that I wanted to captain my state team first before taking on a bigger responsibility,” Patidar shared.
RCB is still chasing their first-ever IPL title. The team has reached the playoffs in four of the last five seasons.
With Patidar being the RCB Captain, RCB aims to capitalize on their progress and finally secure their maiden championship win.
