    A Step-by-Step Guide to Filing a Cyber Crime Online Complaint in Pakistan

    Pakistan has experienced a substantial increase in cybercrime, with the most prevalent offenses being financial fraud, harassment, hacking, and the creation of false profiles. Financial fraud alone accounted for 20,218 out of 84,764 documented cybercrime cases in 2023. Under the Prevention of Electronic Offences Act (PECA) 2016, the Cyber Crime Wing (CCW) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is responsible for combating such offenses.

    Categories of Cybercrime
    Cybercrimes are classified into the following categories:

    Phishing, cyberstalking, deception, and other types of individual crimes.
    Malware attacks and denial-of-service attacks are examples of organizational crimes.
    Property Crimes: Credit card fraud and intellectual property larceny.
    Society Crimes: Cyberterrorism and hazards to public safety.
    Procedures for Submitting a Complaint Regarding Cybercrime

    Online Submission: To submit a cyber crime online complaint, please visit complaint.fia.gov.pk/.
    Email Application: Compose an application that provides a comprehensive account of the incident, including your name, CNIC, contact number, and address. Please send it to adg.ccw@nr3c.gov.pk via email.
    Hard Copy Submission: Please submit a written complaint to the Director NR3C-FIA at the National Police Foundation Building, G-10/4, Islamabad.
    In-Person Complaint: To file your complaint directly, visit the NR3C regional office that is the closest to you.

    Information Required

    Include the following when submitting your complaint:

    Your name, contact information, and CNIC.
    A detailed account of the incident, supported by evidence such as photographs and correspondence.
    Information regarding any individuals implicated.
    Monitoring Your Complaint
    To monitor the status of your complaint, please contact helpdesk@nr3c.gov.pk or dial 051-9106384. Verification typically requires 12-14 days following registration, and investigations must be completed within 90 days.
