In a disturbing turn of events, Assistant Commissioner Saeed Manan Khan was injured in a firing incident in the Boshehra area of Upper Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khan was accompanying a police team to implement a ceasefire when the attack took place.
The incident occurred amidst rising tensions in the region due to ongoing land disputes. Kurram has witnessed significant violence, with a deadly attack on a convoy in lower and upper Kurram in November 2024, claiming over 40 lives.
Khan’s condition remains critical, and he is currently undergoing surgery at the District Headquarters Hospital in Parachinar. The attack, which also left three others injured, comes as a setback to the fragile peace deal signed earlier this month between warring tribes in the area.
Local leaders continue to express concern over the escalating violence, urging authorities to take swift action to ensure peace and security in the region. This latest incident highlights the ongoing challenges in Kurram, where both tribal conflicts and external threats are contributing to instability.
