Burglars Steal Rs7 Million in Jewellery and Cash in Karachi Heist

Burglars broke into a house in Karachi’s Lines Area and stole jewellery and cash worth over Rs7 million, authorities reported on Friday. The family was attending a wedding when the theft occurred. The incident took place in the Brigade police jurisdiction, near the former Macro Super Store, on Tunisia Line, Water Ground Street. The burglars broke the locks on the doors and cupboards before fleeing with the valuables.

According to police, forensic teams visited the scene to gather evidence and begin their investigation. Shoaib, the son of the homeowner, explained that his family left for a wedding at a cousin’s house around 10 pm. When they returned at 1:30 am, they found the locks broken and the house ransacked. The stolen items included 16 tolas of gold jewellery, Rs3.2 million in cash, and other valuables. Shoaib also mentioned that the money and gold had recently been withdrawn from a bank locker to finalize the purchase of a new house.

Police confirmed that no official complaint had been filed at the time of the report. A police officer stated that they would register a case and conduct a thorough investigation once the family submits a formal report.

This burglary follows a recent case in Rawalpindi, where local police arrested a thief and recovered 12 tolas of stolen gold jewellery. The Saddar Beruni police arrested Muhammad Khalil, a resident of Rawalpindi, who had stolen the gold from a disabled citizen’s home just the day before.

The investigation into the Karachi burglary continues as police work to identify and apprehend the thieves.
