Lahore Qalandars have appointed former England fast bowler Darren Gough as their new head coach ahead of the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The two-time PSL champions made the announcement on their official social media channels, bringing back Gough, who previously worked with the team during the inaugural season of the Global Super League (GSL).
Gough expressed his excitement about returning to Lahore Qalandars, highlighting the team’s passion and the energy of its fans. “I am absolutely thrilled to be back with Lahore Qalandars. The passion and energy of the team, along with its incredible fan base, are unmatched,” said Gough. He added, “The PSL is a fantastic platform with an amazing talent pool in the Qalandars’ roster, and I’m eager to help the team reach new heights this season.” Gough is confident that the squad has the potential to achieve something special and is ready to work with the players to bring success and make their fans proud.
Sameen Rana, Team Director of Lahore Qalandars, expressed his confidence in Gough’s leadership abilities. “Darren Gough is an outstanding leader who truly understands the culture and spirit of Lahore Qalandars. His contributions during the Global Super League were invaluable, and weāre excited to have him lead the team in HBL PSL 10,” said Rana. He also noted that Goughās experience and passion for the game will inspire the players to perform at their best.
Gough, who played for England from 1994 to 2006, was a key part of their bowling attack, taking 229 wickets in Tests and 235 wickets in ODIs. After retiring, he served as Englandās bowling consultant in 2020 and later became the Managing Director of Cricket at Yorkshire.
