Federal Government Approves AJK Airport for Pakistanis Abroad

Federal Government takes Life-Changing Decision, Given the Green Light for AJK Airport

In a gigantic leap that connects diaspora dreams with national development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-dominated federal government has approved the construction of an airport in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). This forward-thinking move is a direct result of years of consistent lobbying by far-flung locations Pakistanis, particularly the enormous Kashmiri community residing in the UK and Europe.

Federal Government Approves AJK Airport for Pakistanis Abroad

The need for immediate air access to AJK has long been a major issue for the expat community, a number of whom travel frequently to the destination for family, business, and cultural connections. Up to now, their travels were tainted by employing a few transits and a couple of hours of street travel from Islamabad or Lahore. That reality has not gone the way with this new AJK airport.

From Plea to Action: Diaspora Voice Heard

What is so great about this challenge is the way it was once spurred with the assistance of diaspora lobbying. A written letter from British Members of Parliament of Kashmiri origin played a crucial role in compelling Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to act with haste. Their collective pull emphasized the financial and emotional bond far-off places Pakistanis maintain with their native land.

Acting rapidly, the Civil Aviation Authority has also launched the way through advertising and marketing tenders to hire a dignified consultancy firm for the planning and feasibility studies of the airport. The name is available to all qualified consultants under well-established procurement procedures a clear demonstration that this is more than a symbolic move; it is occurring.

    Overseas Pakistanis Convention: Building Bridges

In parallel to this announcement, the inaugural annual Overseas Pakistanis Convention took place in Islamabad today. The tournament is in itself a landmark, seeking to celebrate the invaluable contributions of remote areas dwellers to Pakistan’s economy—specifically thru investments and remittances. But more significantly, it is an arena for communication between the government and the diaspora, aiming for a closer cooperative future.

A New Era for AJK and the Diaspora

This new AJK airport is more than infrastructure it’s a promise kept. It signals a movement towards inclusive country wide development that respects the voice and cost of Pakistanis abroad. For the people of AJK and the broader diaspora, the runway to development has just been laid.
