Crackdown Unleashed: Punjab Seals Wedding Venues in Major Enforcement Drive

It has started a full-scaled crackdown on Wedding Venues and farmhouses across Lahore in a firm bid to reclaim order at social gatherings. This strong enforcement push—the most aggressive in the city in recent months—was fueled by public complaints about noise, rule-breaking, and other violations.

A Citywide Sweep Triggered by the Chief Minister’s Directives

The operation began after the Punjab chief minister ordered the strict implementation of government protocols regarding marriage functions. The grievances were obvious: exhibition sites getting away with flouting the One Dish policy, marriage-related functions running deep into the night, and playing loudspeakers above legal decibel limits.

To implement these directions, the Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Moosa Raza mobilized special monitoring teams and instructed all the assistant commissioners to continue field inspections without any break in their respective tehsils.
Hundreds of Inspections, Multiple Seals, and Arrests
The authorities did not waste a moment: over the past three days, inspectors checked 562 wedding venues, which ranged from halls to marquees and farmhouses across the city.
    The results were conclusive:

    • 14 venues sealed for violations
    • 9 persons arrested on the spot
    • Rs 150000 fine imposed in Nishtar Town

Results achieved by the inspection group during this period:

    • 267 inspections conducted in one day, December 5
    • 6 more halls sealed during operations that day

The violations basically focus on the One Dish policy, the excess hours of event organization, and the illicit use of loudspeakers, being one of the major contributors of noise pollution in residential areas.

    One-Dish Rule: The Government’s Non-Negotiable SOP

One Dish policy, according to the authorities, is crucial to cut down extravagance, food waste, and financial pressure on hosts. It, however, remains one of the most widely flouted rules.

Officials said the venues must adhere strictly to the government SOPs while warning the owners that any deviation, be it on meals, duration, or sound level, will attract immediate action.

    Monitor Teams Work Round-the-Clock

Night squads have been deployed to monitor late-night events, as a way of reinforcing enforcement. The teams, supervised by the assistant commissioners, see to it that halls wrap up on time and conduct orderly behavior after dark. Their presence is starting to deter unauthorized activities from taking place, creating a more predictable, controlled environment around popular event hubs. A Step Toward Peaceful and Disciplined Social Gatherings Officials say the ongoing crackdown underscores a commitment to public order and a quieter living environment for the residents. Aside from enforcement, this campaign serves as a warning to venue owners who completely disregard the law after being given repeated notices. In tightening compliance, the administration hopes to balance joyful celebrations with civic responsibility by allowing families to enjoy their events without neighborhood disturbance and in conformance with provincial laws. Final Word The Punjab crackdown on marriage halls is more than just an administrative sweep; it’s a signal of discipline, respect for public standards, and movement toward a more accountable event culture in Lahore. With no sign of let-up, the venue owners certainly have a clear choice: either comply with regulations or shut down and face the courts.
