    Profile

Heinrich Klaasen is a lit middle-order batter, a dope fielder, and a solid wicketkeeper, making him the whole vibe in modern white-ball cricket. Klaasen got into cricket while studying at the University of Pretoria and even made it onto his college team. He took a unique path to pro cricket, kicking things off in first-class instead of the usual youth leagues. He kicked off his first-class career in the 2012/13 season with Northerns, catching eyes with his solid performances.

Heinrich Klaasen kept it going, boosting his batting average to a sick 65 in his third season. His top-notch plays got him a spot as a backup keeper for South Africa’s trip to New Zealand, but he didn’t hit the field. His big moment hit in 2018 when he stepped in for an injured Quinton de Kock during the ODI series against India, snagging man-of-the-match honours in the two games South Africa actually won.

He kicked off his T20I and Test career in 2018 and 2019, and quickly became known as a solid middle-order batsman and a top-notch fielder. Klaasen made waves in limited-overs cricket, landing a spot in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals in 2018, stepping in for Steve Smith. Even though he wasn’t a main guy, he totally stood out in his short appearances.

2023 was his year, flexing his skills with centuries in both the IPL and SA20. Major vibes! Klaasen totally crushed it in The Hundred and MLC, making history as the first player to drop a century in the MLC. His solid game got him a spot as a reserve wicketkeeper for the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
