    ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Opening Ceremony Dates Announced

    The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially unveiled the schedule for the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, promising a grand and spectacular start to the prestigious event. The Champions Trophy, set to kick off on February 19, will commence with a dazzling opening ceremony. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the first celebration on February 7. With Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attending as the chief guest.

    On February 11, Karachi’s National Stadium will host another major event, with former President Asif Ali Zardari. Set to be the guest of honour. The main official opening ceremony will take place on February 16 at Hazoori Bagh in Lahore, followed by a brief ceremony at the venue. Notable national figures, cricketing legends, and ICC officials will grace the event, marking the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable tournament.

    Champions Trophy

    This edition of the Champions Trophy will adopt a hybrid format, with India’s matches, including the knockout rounds. Being played in Dubai. The PCB is excited to host the tournament in Pakistan for the first time in 29 years. Reflecting the immense passion and enthusiasm of the Pakistani people. The Karachi and Lahore stadiums have undergone significant upgrades to meet international standards. Showcasing the extensive preparations made for this momentous event.

    The Champions Trophy 2025 will feature eight teams battling it out in 15 matches from February 19 to March 9, held across Karachi. Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. The teams are divided into two groups: Group A: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh. Group B: Afghanistan, South Africa, England, Australia.

    Hosts Pakistan will face New Zealand in the opening match on February 19 in Karachi. The eagerly awaited clash between Pakistan and India will take place on February 23 in Dubai. In related news, Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the PCB, recently met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. Providing an update on preparations for the Champions Trophy. Naqvi also briefed the Prime Minister about his discussions with senior U.S. officials, business leaders, and investors during his recent visit to the United States.

    Prime Minister Sharif praised Naqvi and his team at the PCB for their hard work in organizing the tournament. And for the significant progress made on other development projects in Islamabad. Naqvi also shared updates on operations against human traffickers and provided an overview of the current law and order situation in the country.
