    Junior Hockey Trials for Pakistan Kicking Off Today

    KARACHI: Today, the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in Karachi, where the national hockey team’s training camp is currently underway. Hosting trials for the Junior Asia Cup 2024 in Oman, Masqat.

    Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti, president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, and Olympian Rana Mujahid, the PHF Secretary, will be in attendance. The National Selection Committee, which includes Olympians Danish Kaleem, Kashif Jawad, and Muhammad Khalid, will choose the team.

    Ajmal Khan Lodhi, manager of the Pakistan junior hockey team. He stated that the team management is conducting two training sessions daily, along with physical training, to ensure player fitness.

    Ajmal stated that the evening session fully focuses on hockey skills. There’s a focus on penalty shootouts, a key weakness for Pakistan in recent international games.

    He mentioned that training sessions for forwards, defenders, drag flickers, goalkeepers, and penalty shootout players will be organized after player selection. Ajmal stated that Pakistan anticipates playing two practice matches in Oman prior to the event.

    The teams that qualified for the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 are Bangladesh, China, Chinese Taipei, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, and Thailand. The Pakistan junior hockey team is in pool B. With Malaysia, Bangladesh, Oman, and China, while the other teams are in pool A.
