    Karachi New Year Ban New for Public Safety

    Karachi New Year Ban to celebrate new year under strict restriction

    As the town prepares for New Year’s celebrations, the Karachi administration has taken strict measures to ensure public safety. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi announced a two-day ban across the city, enforced under Section one hundred forty four of the Pakistan Penal Code, which prohibits aerial firing, the use of firecrackers, and carrying firearms on December 31 and January 1.

    The Commissioner, exercising the powers bestowed through the Sindh Home Department, stressed that these restrictions aim to avoid any untoward incidents during the festive season. “The safety and security of residents remain our top concern,” said Commissioner Naqvi in a press briefing.

    The collaboration of other law enforcement

    Those who will break the imposed restraints will be dealt with through the iron rod of criminal proceedings. Policelines have been advised to stay vigilant and ensure that the entire city becomes complaint. Karachi police, with the collaboration of other law enforcement agencies, have formulated their entire strategies to scan all the hotspots to ensure a peaceful transition of New Year. Check-posts and patrols will be increased vigilance in places that are sensitive for such celebrations. Residents are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and report any violations to the authorities. The administration is optimistic that collective efforts will result in a safe and cheerful start to 2024.
