Kid Cudi’s Los Angeles-area home was the site of a strange burglary amid widespread wildfire evacuations. According to TMZ, the rapper’s security system captured footage of an unknown man inside his home around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Authorities say the intruder made himself at home, eating Kid Cudi’s food, using the bathroom, and even taking a shower before deputies from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department arrived.
When officers reached the residence, they found the shirtless suspect in the kitchen and arrested him. He now faces charges of felony burglary and theft of utilities, with his bail set at $150,000. It remains unclear whether any property was stolen or if there was any damage during the break-in.
Kid Cudi has not publicly commented on the burglary but recently shared updates on his evacuation due to the wildfires devastating the area. On January 8, the rapper posted on Instagram, “Had to evacuate my crib. I’m safe with my loved ones. Dogs are safe. For all the folks who lost their homes, people that are dealing with this, my heart hurts for you, and I’m praying for us all. I send ALL my love to you and yours.” He also urged others to evacuate immediately if needed.
The ongoing wildfires have caused massive destruction, claiming at least 27 lives, burning over 60 square miles, and destroying around 12,000 structures. Celebrities like Jhené Aiko, Paris Hilton, and Tina Knowles have also been affected by the fires. In the wake of the disaster, more than 50 people have been arrested for crimes such as looting, burglary, and impersonation.
The Joint Regional Fire Crimes Task Force has been established to investigate these offenses, with authorities warning criminals that they will face serious consequences.
