Moana 3: All the Details We Have So Far

Moana 2 broadens the mythology of the original film by introducing a new adversary and demonstrating that the titular character’s seafaring adventures will soon extend beyond the horizon. The post-credits scene, in particular, establishes substantial plot elements that will be further developed in Moana 3. Nevertheless, it is widely recognized that the box office is the monarch, and Walt Disney is unlikely to officially approve a threequel if there is insufficient revenue. Fortunately for fans, the sequel’s divided critical reception has not impeded its box-office success.

    WARNING MOANA 2 SPOILERS!

Moana 2 is already shattering box office records as a result of its strategic release just prior to Thanksgiving. This is not entirely unexpected, as the holiday has a history of uniting various generations, and there are no other major, family-friendly films that could potentially threaten it’s dominance. Additionally, supporters have endured an eight-year wait for a sequel. The good news is that Disney Animation has learnt its lesson, and the studio should not delay the release of Moana 3, as the mid-credits scene of Moana 2 has already hinted at the franchise’s future.

Nalo Continues to Pose a Threat

The Motonui people are ostracised from the rest of the world as a result of the vengeful god’s impulses, as revealed in Moana 2. Nalo, the storm deity (voiced by Tofiga Fepulea’i), made the decision to disrupt the ocean currents centuries prior to the events of the film. This decision enabled various tribes to communicate with one another. Each tribe is doomed to gradually disappear into obscurity, their history being wiped from the Earth’s surface in the absence of external communication.

Needless to say, Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) embarks on a new voyage to retrieve the mythical island of Motufetu from the depths of the ocean once she discovers the truth about Nalo’s curse. Nalo’s curse is dispelled upon the contact of any human with this island, allowing the tribes to resume their journey towards one another.

Moana and her companions successfully break Nalo’s curse; however, the post-credits scene emphasizes the storm god’s continued presence. Nalo informs Matangi (voiced by Awhimai Fraser) that a mere human should not have been able to challenge him in the scene, and he will shortly return to exact his revenge. When the curse is dissolved, Matangi’s punishment will be completed. Nevertheless, Nalo once more ensnares her, assuming that she was involved in Moana’s triumph. Moana 3 is required to reconcile these loose ends, thereby concluding Nalo’s nefarious endeavor and alleviating Matangi’s suffering.

The end-credits scene of Moana 2 also suggests that Nalo will have some support in the threequel. The first film features Tamatoa (voiced by Jemaine Clement), the giant hermit crab that Moana and Maui (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) combat to retrieve the demigod’s magical fish hook. Tamatoa is featured in the scene. Tamatoa, the sworn adversary of Maui, is depicted in a manner that suggests the reunion of old enemies against the hero’s team in Moana 3.

    Moana has acquired new abilities.

Moana will be featured in Moana 3 with some much-appreciated enhancements, even though Nalo and Tamatoa are formidable antagonists. The heroine’s ancestral provide her with their fortitude after Moana 2. Moana is saved from drowning by the spirits’ actions, which also bestow upon her demigod powers. Moana currently possesses a magical artifact, her oar, which she employs to alter ocean currents, as well as tattoos on her arm. When it is time to confront Nalo, these abilities will prove advantageous.

Moana’s divine abilities should also alter the equilibrium between her and Maui. Maui’s demigod abilities consistently establish him as the duo’s juggernaut, despite Moana’s resourcefulness and bravery. The two can now compete on the battlefield as equals, as Moana also possesses demigod abilities.

Moana 2 Has Broadened the Franchise’s Horizons

Moana 2 concludes with the protagonist discovering the wayfarers of other tribes, who have been summoned to Motufetu after Nalo’s curse has been broken. In its concluding moments, the sequel demonstrates how this fortuitous encounter enables individuals to exchange knowledge and technology, thereby propelling everyone toward the future. Moana 3 must investigate the alliances that Motonui is forming with other tribes as humans unite to avert the wrath of an envious deity.

The franchise has the opportunity to explore uncharted territory with Moana 3, as the existence of other tribes demonstrates the development of distinct Polynesian communities over centuries of isolation. Lastly, the abrupt summoning of wayfarers can also result in conflict, as it is improbable that all parties will be amicably disposed of once communication has been re-established. Therefore, it is likely that Moana will be compelled to rebuild the trust of all individuals for the tribes to unite against Nalo in Moana 3.

Moana 2 is presently being screened in theatres across the globe.
