The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took prompt action after a protection breach occurred at some point during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in form between Bangladesh and New Zealand on February 24. A pitch invader was able to gain entry to the discipline and attempted to hug New Zealand’s star all-rounder, Rachin Ravindra, raising severe concerns regarding stadium protection procedures.
PCB’s Firm Reaction to the Incident
In a dignified response, the PCB criticized Pitch Invasion Incident, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the safety of players, in form officials, and spectators. The governing body narrated the failure and some supporters that immediate measures have been being adopted to strengthen safety at all arenas hosting the tournament.
Protection of players and officers is our top priority. We express our deep regret over this incident and will ensure that such violations do not occur in the future,” the PCB said.

As part of its immediate action plan:
- The individual responsible for the pitch invasion was arrested and handed over to law enforcement.
- It has been imposed a lifetime ban on the man or woman, not allowing him or her to enter any cricket stadium in Pakistan.
- Security staff in each stadium will bear through besides education to enhance crowd manage and risk mitigation.
