Talha Anjum Disrespected at Islamabad Concert: A Call for Change

Once again, Talha Anjum, one-half of the celebrated rap duo Young Stunners, faced disrespect at a live event when a member of the crowd threw a bottle at him

during his performance. The incident took place during a concert in Islamabad, where the rapper, despite the hostility, managed to keep his composure. However, his manager, AlinaNaghman, took to social media to call out the organizers for their failure to ensure the safety of the artists.

This isn’t the first time such behavior has been witnessed in Pakistan. Last year, similar incidents occurred where artists like Talha Anjum and Talha Yunus were subjected to disrespect by unruly crowd members. These acts of aggression not only tarnish the reputation of events but also put the artists’ safety and morale at risk.

The situation didn’t go unnoticed, with legendary rapper Bohemia coming forward to express his support for the Young Stunners. In his Instagram story, Bohemia stated:

“@talhahanjum and @talhahyunus should beloved and respected for what they have accomplished. And should be fully supported by all of us as they take on the challenges of the future! Hip Hop is an edgy form of music, but it still requires some discretion, please.”

Bohemia’s words reflect a sentiment shared by many in the music community, emphasizing the need for respect and encouragement for artists who represent Pakistan on international platforms.

A Growing Concern in Pakistan’s Concert Culture

Such incidents point to a troubling pattern in the entertainment scene. Pakistani artists, especially those like Young Stunners who have earned global recognition, often face a double-edged sword. If they react to disrespectful behavior, they are criticized for being “unprofessional.” On the other hand, if they choose silence and walk away, they are still subjected to backlash.

This vicious cycle of criticism highlights a deeper cultural issue. Pakistani audiences need to understand the value of their homegrown talent. Young Stunners are not just musicians; they are cultural ambassadors who have brought Pakistani hip-hop to international stages. They are the pride of Pakistan. If we cannot respect and honor our artists, how can we expect international performers to feel welcomed in our country?

    A Call for Change

Incidents like these need to stop. Event organizers must take accountability for ensuring the safety of artists. Stricter crowd management measures and clear guidelines on audience behavior should be enforced at all events. Additionally, fans must recognize that supporting artists goes beyond streaming their music—it includes respecting them during live performances.
