A girl who ran away from her home was found dead soon after her parents brought her back to Rawalpindi. A police officer at the Jatli police station reported that a 17-year-old college student had been missing from her home in Syed Kasran. Her father and uncles located her at Syed Adda and brought her back home.
Rumors quickly spread in the area that the girl had been killed by her family. Girl found dead at home, and her family buried her around 2 pm the same day.
A senior police official confirmed to DAWN that the case is under investigation. A request will be made in court to obtain permission to exhume the body. Legal action will follow after the autopsy report is received.
Just one week ago, the police exhumed the body of a 21-year-old girl showing signs of sexual assault and poisoning. Four individuals were arrested in the case. The police suspect the orphaned girl’s brother-in-law had been raping her for an extended period.
