Over 1.2 Million Users and Nobody Knows About It – Vaping Frequency in Pakistan is rising hideously!
Turns out, only about 17% of adults in Pakistan have even heard of vaping. Chewing tobacco is more well-known, which is saying something. Gallup calls vaping a small but quickly growing segment of the nicotine market. Basically, it’s flying under the radar, and that’s not good news.
Who’s Vaping? And Are They Admitting It?
Most people (60%) who know about vaping say they don’t use it, and neither does anyone they know. Only 3% admit to using it. That number might be low because of the stigma. The bottom line: vaping is still new here, but it looks like it could take off like it has in other places.
People Think It’s Bad For You
Even with the lack of knowledge, most people (71%) think vaping is bad, especially because of secondhand smoke. These worries match global concerns about the risk of e-cigarettes, especially where there aren’t any rules or good info.
Is This a Youth Thing?
Here’s the worrying part: almost half (45%) think young people are the main ones vaping, blaming it on trends and social media. Vaping is getting seen as a lifestyle, not a health risk, which is a message that really sticks with young people.
Missing Data Alert: What About Underage Vaping?
Gallup didn’t survey anyone under 18. This means we don’t know how many kids are vaping, which is a big worry worldwide. They want more research on these nicotine things, so we can make good rules before vaping gets too popular with the younger crowd.
Time for Policymakers to Wake Up?
Vaping in Pakistan is bigger than you think, even if it’s quiet. Over a million users and hardly anyone knows about it. Pakistan is at a turning point. If we don’t get some rules, teach people about it, and do some research, vaping could become a big problem.
