Zardari Plans Major Upgrades for Cadet College Petaro

President Asif Zardari emphasized the importance of investing in children’s education and adopting modern teaching methods to produce productive citizens capable of meeting the country’s growing human resource needs and tackling the challenges of the 21st century. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the board of governors of the Cadet College Petaro (CCP) at the Chief Minister House on Monday.

Zardari highlighted the significance of the CCP, stating that the college holds a special place in his heart as it is his alma mater. He expressed immense pride in having studied there and reiterated his commitment to supporting the institution’s growth. The president directed the development of a five-year plan to enhance CCP’s facilities, infrastructure, and technology to align it with international standards.

Praising CCP for its vital role in the holistic training of youth, especially in Sindh, Zardari acknowledged the college’s success in producing exceptional leaders across various fields, including politics, the armed forces, civil service, judiciary, and more.

During the meeting, Zardari was briefed on the current state of the CCP’s infrastructure and student facilities. He instructed Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to ensure the addition of two more swimming pools and other essential facilities under the proposed five-year plan.

Zardari also approved several key infrastructure projects, such as upgrading ICT labs, installing smart digital screens in junior classes, and renovating the Iqbal and Qasim Houses, along with other cadet accommodations. Furthermore, he approved enhancements to critical facilities, including a new chiller system for the cadets’ mess, a water pipeline from the Indus River, and an expansion of the Riding Club to accommodate more horses due to increasing interest in equestrian activities.

Additionally, Zardari approved a housing scheme and health insurance for CCP employees to improve their welfare.
