“Imran Khan’s £190 Million Case Verdict Tomorrow”

The verdict in the £190 million reference case involving PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi will be delivered tomorrow at Adiala Jail. The staff of the Islamabad Accountability Court officially informed the legal team of Imran Khan about the scheduled announcement of the decision, as reported by Express News. The case, which has been closely watched, concerns allegations related to funds transferred by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government.

    Case Details and Timeline

Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, Imran Khan’s lawyer, confirmed that the verdict would be read out in the presence of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail on January 13, 2025. The Accountability Court had previously postponed the decision twice. The initial verdict was set for December 23, 2024, but was delayed and rescheduled for January 6, before being further pushed to the current date.

The trial of the £190 million reference has been notably lengthy, taking almost a year to conclude. This is the only case involving Imran Khan that has taken a full year to reach its final stages. The proceedings began after Imran Khan’s arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on November 13, 2023. After 17 days of interrogation, the reference was filed on December 1, 2023, and both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were formally indicted on February 27, 2024.

    The £190 Million Allegations

The case revolves around the alleged mismanagement of £190 million, which was transferred to the Pakistani government by the UK’s NCA. Imran Khan, during his tenure as Prime Minister, approved the settlement in December 2019 without revealing the full details of the agreement. The funds were intended to be directed to the Supreme Court, but NAB officials claim that Imran Khan and his wife used the money to receive land valued in billions of rupees, which was allegedly intended for an educational institute.

Throughout the trial, 35 witnesses, including former officials such as Azam Khan, Pervez Khattak, and Zubaida Jalal, provided testimony. The case has gone through multiple judges, with Judge Nasir Javed Rana presiding over the final stages of the proceedings.
