    In anticipation of the Islamabad rally, more than 500 PTI activists arrested in Lahore.

    LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies have initiated a widespread operation in Lahore in anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Islamabad. The result of this operation has been the apprehension of more than 500 PTI activists arrested.

    Police sources have declared Shahdara’s entry and exit points sensitive. In the event of a protest or march toward Islamabad, containers may be placed in the area to regulate movement.

    Special police squads have been deployed at critical routes, and coordination between the Punjab and Islamabad districts has been finalized to monitor and mitigate potential unrest in a result more than 500 PTI activists arrested.

    The police have conducted raids on residences, offices, and outhouses associated with PTI supporters in various Lahore neighborhoods, such as Millat Park, Hanjarwal, Mansoora, Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, and Green Town. Additional investigations were conducted in Tajpura, Badami Bagh, and Shahdara Town.

    According to reports, the arrests are predicated on lists of individuals who are suspected of engaging in activities that could potentially undermine law and order.

    65 individuals were detained for concerns regarding law and order disturbances in the Iqbal Town division alone. Furthermore, 14 arrests were conducted in Green Town and Township last night.

    The Punjab government implemented Section 144 throughout the province from November 23 to 25, which prohibits all protests, rallies, gatherings, and sit-ins in anticipation of the scheduled PTI rally. The official notification cited the necessity of maintaining law and order and preventing disturbances during this period. The objective of this precautionary measure is to safeguard public property and ensure the protection of citizens.
