Jamie Foxx recently opened up about his frightening health scare, revealing that he initially thought he was being “pranked” after waking up from a 20-day coma. In an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 57-year-old actor shared the shock of discovering that he had been unconscious for nearly three weeks after suffering a stroke caused by a brain bleed. Foxx explained that he had no memory of the events leading up to his hospitalization. “I was very unwell, but now I am back feeling good,” Foxx said, emphasizing the importance of having caring people around to help him through such a difficult time.
The stroke occurred while Jamie Foxx was filming in April 2023, and upon waking up, he found himself unable to walk. “I found myself in a wheelchair. I couldn’t walk,” he recalled. Despite the severity of his condition, Foxx initially refused to accept the diagnosis. “I didn’t want to believe I’d had a stroke,” he added.
Jamie Foxx made his return to Hollywood alongside co-star Cameron Diaz in the action-comedy Back in Action. Reflecting on his recovery, Foxx revealed that humor played a key role in his healing process. “I told so many jokes people thought I was mad, and then I would act as someone else – for three whole days I was Denzel Washington,” he joked.
Diaz, who also returned to acting after a long break, credited Foxx for encouraging her to return to film. She shared, “If I was going to leave my family for 10 hours a day, I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment business.”
The interview aired on The Graham Norton Show on January 17th, where Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz discussed their experiences.
