“Karate Kid: Legends” is Prepared to Involve a New Generation in the Martial Arts World
Karate Kid: Legends, the latest installment in the renowned Karate Kid franchise, is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 30. Ralph Macchio, who originated the role of Daniel LaRusso in the original film, is reunited with Jackie Chan, who portrayed Mr. Han in the 2010 Karate Kid remake, in this new film. They will collaborate to provide guidance to a new pupil, Li Fong, who is portrayed by Ben Wang, an American-born Chinese actor.
After an extensive global search for the ideal actor to assume the character, Wang was chosen. Out of the thousands of young talent who auditioned, Wang was distinguished not only by his acting prowess but also by his remarkable martial arts abilities. His training encompasses karate, wing chun/kung fu, gumdo, kempo, and taekwondo, rendering him a comprehensive martial artist who is well-suited for the upcoming Karate Kid: Legends adventure.
Wang expressed his enthusiasm for becoming a part of the Karate Kid legacy, stating, “I was the target audience when that movie was released…” It contained all of my most cherished items in a single location. Wang developed a profound affinity for both the franchise and his character after spending a year in Beijing and growing up on Jackie Chan’s films.
Joshua Jackson and Sadie Stanley will be joined by Ming-Na Wen in the role of Li Fong’s mother. Jonathan Entwistle, who has previously directed Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This and The End of the F—ing World, will direct Karate Kid: Legends. Rob Lieber, the writer of Peter Rabbit, will compose the screenplay. The film is being produced by Karen Rosenfelt.
Karate Kid: Legends is poised to introduce a new generation of fans to the timeless teachings of the martial arts world through its combination of legendary stars and emerging talent.
