    Rawalpindi Implements Section 144 Ahead of PTI’s Protest

     Prior to the PTI protest on November 24, Rawalpindi implemented Section 144. The government has halted the PTI protest by implementing robust measures.

    Rawalpindi: In anticipation of the PTI’s anticipated November 24 protest, the Rawalpindi administration has implemented Section 144. Positioned containers to obstruct critical roads. Express News reported the placement of containers at strategic locations such as the Fawara Chowk Parking Plaza, Liaquat Road, and near the church on Liaquat Road.

    The government has implemented stringent measures to prevent the PTI’s protest. Which includes the deployment of additional containers at the city’s primary intersections and roads. We are positioning the containers along the road margins to prevent any disruption.

    The Rawalpindi police have also resolved to establish police pickets at 34 locations in Rawalpindi Cantt and the adjacent areas, in addition to sealing off 47 locations within the city. To maintain law and order, the city will station more than 4,500 personnel on November 24.We have implemented special security measures in the vicinity of Adiala Jail and Adiala Road with the intention of isolating specific locations along the road.We have stationed additional police commandos at critical installations in the cantonment areas and city of Rawalpindi to fortify security.

    The Pakistan People’s Party’s initiative to organize a protest in Islamabad on November 24 prompted the implementation of Section 144 in Rawalpindi until November 26.The notification forbids any assembly of more than four individuals, rallies, or gatherings in the city. Senior police officers have reported that significant preparations are in place to ensure the security and tranquility of the city.

    In the past, a comparable situation occurred when the Punjab government implemented Section 144 in Rawalpindi for a period of three days. Which is in response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) grand rally in Swabi on November 9. Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema issued a notification restricting all rallies, gatherings, and weapon displays. The Rawalpindi and Attock police were on high alert. Intensifying the security situation in anticipation of any potential emergency situations involving PTI convoys. Lahore’s Central Police Office deployed 1,500 personnel from four districts. Which includes Punjab Constabulary and Highway Patrolling Police, under the direction of Rawalpindi’s RPO.
