Tomorrow, colleges and schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be open again.
All government and private schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will start up again tomorrow (Thursday), three days after a protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) caused them to close.
Following a successful operation by the authorities to clear the protest area of PTI protesters, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the statement.
Naqvi stated that colleges and schools will reopen tomorrow, Thursday, and that cell phone internet will be back up and running by Wednesday morning.
The PTI’s planned protest on November 24 has forced the closure of schools since Saturday. Parents are raising concerns about how this situation might affect their children’s schooling.
Parents in the Twin Cities say the long shutdown has hurt their children’s school performance. While some areas accepted online classes as an alternative, many parents said that these choices were not adequate enough, especially for younger students, when compared to traditional in-person education.
After clearing all the roadblocks, things returned to normal in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday morning. The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Irfan Memon, has instructed the assistant commissioners to expedite the reopening of all roads. In addition, he has requested the cleaning of major junctions to ensure proper functioning of the city.
